Antique 1837 HANDWRITTEN POETRY Manuscript Journal FOLK ART Commonplace Book

Up for sale is this lovely antique 1837 handwritten poetry book belonging to one Abel Wagstaff.  The book is softcover, bound in plain brown paper wrappers.  It contains 10 leaves, 8 of which have handwritten content.  The first and last leaves are acting like endpapers and are blank. The content is written on the rectos only.  The first page contains a beautiful hand drawn calligraphy title page with the name and motto of Abel's school and the other 7 pages contain handwritten poetry.  Two of the poetry pages have nice little watercolor flower paintings and the remaining pages have elaborate handwritten calligraphy titles.  The book is overall in very good condition with just some minor signs of wear and age.  The binding is good and sound.  The pages are generally nice and clean with just some light wear.

The book measures approximately 9 3/8 inches by 7 5/8 inches.  It is British in origin.  Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
